Three Kyoto IT community events in August 2026

The three events were organized by the same community, but each had a different purpose.

The two August 23 events were co-hosted with Digital Nomad Kyoto. The connpass pages remain the source of truth for venue details, participation requirements, and registration.

IT engineer social on the rooftop of Fushigina Yado

On August 21, the rooftop terrace of Fushigina Yado near Gojo hosted an IT engineer social. There was no single lecture topic. IT, AI, Web3, products under development, work, and careers provided starting points for conversation.

We chose an open rooftop setting because the main purpose was conversation between participants. The photograph records the group sharing food around one table during the event.

On the afternoon of August 23, participants brought laptops and learning materials to Butsugenji Temple. A co-working session does not give everyone the same assignment. Development, study, document preparation, and personal projects can take place in the same room.

Summer gathering after the co-working session

After the co-working session, food and drinks replaced laptops on the tables for the Miyako Summer Gathering 2026. People could register for the evening gathering without taking part in the afternoon work session.

Using the same temple hall allowed the atmosphere to change without moving to a second venue. It created a calm indoor place to share a Kyoto summer evening.

How the three formats differ

Our editorial and operational conclusion is that the three formats should remain distinct.

Trying to satisfy every purpose in one event can make participation expectations unclear. Separating conversation, focused work, and a shared meal gives people several ways to enter the community. This is a conclusion from how we designed these three events, not a universal success rule for every community.
