On Saturday, May 23, 2026, Kyoto IT engineering community Miyako de IT held Miyako Mokumoku Session #57 with Digital Nomad Kyoto at Daikoji. This was Miyako de IT's first event at the Fushimi temple and was co-hosted with Digital Nomad Kyoto.

Event overview

Focus and exchange in a Fushimi temple

A mokumoku session lets participants bring a laptop, book, or other individual task and focus on their own theme. Work may include web or application development, AI, Web3, blockchain, design, study, reading, or preparing materials.

Daikoji is a historic temple in Fushimi founded in 1260, during the Kamakura period. It is accessible from three railway stations. Between periods of focused work, participants naturally discussed recent activity, technology, careers, and community operations.

Co-hosted with Digital Nomad Kyoto

Kyoto increasingly attracts engineers, designers, creators, founders, and digital nomads from Japan and abroad. Miyako de IT creates a continuing local place for engineers, students, and business developers to learn, exchange ideas, and move toward implementation. Collaboration with Digital Nomad Kyoto adds contact with people staying in Kyoto from elsewhere.

That connection matters because a regional community should not close itself off. Contact with visitors introduces different working styles, technologies, and potential projects.

Participants and atmosphere

Miyako de IT events attract web, mobile, UX, Web3, blockchain, AI, hardware, security, and infrastructure engineers, as well as project managers, DX professionals, and designers.

The mokumoku format has a low participation barrier. It does not require a presentation or completed result. First-time participants, people still learning engineering, employees catching up on work, independent developers, readers, and people preparing documents can all work at their own pace.

The event is not silent throughout. Breaks and the period after work allow technical and career questions, local event information, and future-program ideas to arise. The balance between concentration and unplanned conversation is part of the format's value.

About Miyako de IT

Miyako de IT is a Kyoto IT engineering community that regularly holds mokumoku sessions, study groups, lightning talks, and networking events about Web3, blockchain, AI, application development, web development, and related themes.

Kyoto brings together universities, government, traditional industries, tourism, startups, IT companies, and creators, but does not have the daily scale of large technology events found in Tokyo. A continuing locally rooted community therefore has a distinct role.

Connecting temples, communities, and technology

Holding this event at Daikoji was a new experiment. Engineers and creators opened laptops and worked inside a historic temple in Fushimi. This is one expression of a Kyoto-specific IT community.

Technology develops not only in offices and online. It gains different meaning when connected with regional spaces, relationships, and culture. A Kyoto technology event can build relationships among people, technology, and place rather than merely using a convenient room.
