HACK+2023 Grand Prize

Background
Blood donation rates in Japan have been declining, especially among younger people. The team explored whether blockchain could support an incentive mechanism for donating blood.

How it developed
HACK+2023 was a Symbol blockchain hackathon organized by NEMTUS. A team formed by people who met at an AI event held in 2018 developed Cycle, a blood-donation support DApp, and won the grand prize.
The team was not formed through Miyako de IT. This page records an achievement by people connected to the community and the follow-on activity that emerged after the award. Miyako de IT’s role was to introduce the work after the win and connect it to the next initiative.
The team reinvested the prize money and held the independently organized UNKNOWN QUEST hackathon at UNKNOWN KYOTO on July 29–30, 2023. It was a community-led program focused on blockchain applications, with a pre-event gathering and advance connections through Discord. The experience also became an important catalyst for founding the operating company, Netsujo Inc.
