The TEMPLE Model

Theory and practice of the TEMPLE framework for community operations.

The TEMPLE model is Miyako de IT's own framework for community operations, distilled from 7 years and 165 events in Kyoto. Its six pillars are Theme, Environment, Members, Persistence, Local connections, and Evolution.

Design a theme in conversation with the place. Turn a venue into a brand through repeated use. Design for a second visit rather than only new acquisition. Protect a monthly cadence with systems. Build external partnerships with government, universities, and companies. Then evolve a community from its co-working-session starting point. Each pillar has its own practical article.

This category brings together the overview and practical guidance for each TEMPLE pillar. It is organized as a repeatable process for people starting a community outside major cities and organizers who are struggling to sustain one. Following the work alongside our practice of holding events in temples gives the framework additional context.
